To encourage Organ Transplants in Mysore, Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar a new zone has been declared, the Mysore henceforth will be considered as the 5th Zone under SOTTO (State Organ &Tissue Transplant Organization). Inauguration of the Mysore zone was held at Rani Bahadur Auditorium Mysore, in collaboration with SOTTO Karnataka and Apollo BGS Mysore. Dr. Kiran Kumar Joint Director Medical and Member Secretary Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka Inaugurated the program Dr. Dakshayani, Dean and Director, MMC&RI, Mysuru, Dr. M R Niranjan Nodal officer, Dr. M S Rajesh RMO MMC&RI, Dr. Chinnadurai, Brian dead declaration committee member SOTTO, Mr. Bharateesha Reddy, Vice President & Unit Head, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, Ms. Lijamol Joseph, Chief Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO Karnataka and the other team members of SOTTO Karnataka were present.
The Redcross society organized an awareness program on organ donation for Roshni Students at Wenlock hospital. In this program, Ms. Padma, the transplant coordinator of Jeevasarthakthe/ SOTTO Karnataka Mangaluru zone explained the need and importance of organ donation, the concept of brain death, and also the importance of pledging for organ donation. Nearly 15 members participated in this program and 4 students pledged for organ donation.
The district conference of the Rotary Club was held at BMM Auditorium, Udupi. Ms. Lijamol Joseph Chief transplant coordinator from Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka has been invited to address the gathering on organ donation and transplantation. The platform has been shared with Dr. Bagirath R, consultant cardiologist at Narayana Health, and Dr. Arpana Iyengar, consultant nephrologist at St. John's Hospital Bangalore. The conference was aimed at "No one dies in an organ waiting list" Days are not far for us... Let's pledge to be organ donation ambassadors.
Narayana Hrudayalaya Bangalore has organized a program to celebrate World Kidney Day. Dr. Emmanuel Rupat CEO of Narayana Hrudayalaya inaugurated the event. The Nephrologists of Narayana Hrudayala Dr. Akhila Nayak, Dr. Istique Ahmed, Dr. Himesh, Dr. Ganesh, and Liver Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Rao were gracing the occasion. Ms. Chandrakala Transplant coordinator from Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka has been invited to share knowledge about the role and responsibility of Jeevasarthakathe in organ transplant. More than 100 people participated in the event. 45 people pledged for organ donation.
The KMC Hospital Mangalore organized a program to celebrate World kidney day for the general public at KMC Hospital Mangalore. In this program, Dr. Shushanth, Dr. Mayur Prabhu, and Dr. Ashok Bhat the leading nephrologists at KMC explained kidney transplants, prevention, and other topics related to kidney diseases. KMC Hospital felicitated the donors during the event. The Kidney transplanted recipients shared their views and expressed gratitude towards the Donor family. Nearly 200 members participated in this program. After the program, The KMC hospital honored Jeevasarthakathe Mangalore transplant coordinators with a memento.
The awareness program was held at KIMS Hospital Hubballi. Mr.Manoj Nayak, the transplant coordinator from Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka Hubballi zone, attended the program, discussed organ donation, and distributed IEC material. 100 people were attending the program. This program was arranged on the eve of World Kidney Day.

In this program, Ms. Laveena Gladys D’souza and Ms. Padma, the transplant coordinators of Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka Mangalore zone explained the need and importance of organ donation, the concept of brain death, and also the importance of pledging for organ donation. Nearly 25 members participated in this program.
The organ donation awareness program was held at Block Education Officer Dharwad Rural for Scout and Guides officials. Mr. Manoj Nayak transplant coordinator from Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka Hubballi zone attended the program and talked about organ donation, and distributed IEC material. 25 people were attending the program.
An organ donation awareness program was held for newly appointed Community Health Officers at Wenlock Hospital. In this program, Ms. Padma the transplant coordinator of Jeevasarthakathe/SOTTO Karnataka Mangalore zone presented PPT about the Need and Importance of Organ Donation and the concept of brain death. Ms. Laveena Gladys D’souza presented PPT on Jeevasarthakathe and the importance of pledging for organ donation. Nearly 30 newly appointed community health officers participated in this program.
NAK(Nephrology Association of Karnataka) in association with SOTTO ( State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization) has arranged a seminar at API Bhavan on Religious views on Organ Donation after Brain Death which bought the religious leaders together for the cause of organ donation and transplantation. Mr. Randeep D the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services, Justice Santhosh Hegde, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty renowned cardiothoracic surgeon Narayana Health and other dignitaries and leaders from different religions participated in the event.
The DHO department organized an IEC Materials Display program on organ donation and other health facilities at Karavali Mydan Mangalore. In this program, Honourable chief minister Mr. Basavraj Bommai distributed kits to needy people. The Jeevasarthakathe/SOTTO Karnataka Mangalore zone transplant coordinators have arranged a stall and displayed IEC materials for Organ donation.

The kidney warriors, Nephroplus and the Bangalore IMA has arranged an event to celebrate World Kidney Day with a panel discussion. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. Gurudev and the Guest of honor Dr. Venugopal IMA President. Mr. Randeep D Commissioner of Health and family welfare Services Govt of Karnataka rendered a keynote address for the gathering. An excellent panel discussion was arranged with diabetologists, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, gynecologists, and general practitioners moderated by eminent nephrologists of Bangalore.
In collaboration with Karnataka Human Rights Janaseva Samsthe Gadag, Gadag Institute of Medical Science (GIMS), and Department of Health and Family Welfare Gadag an Organ donation, eye donation, body donation, and blood donation awareness camp and Rally were organized in Gajendragad Taluk. The program was presided over by the Ex MLA of Rona Taluk Sri. G S Patil and Sri. Abhinava Channabasava Mahaswamy of Nidagundi Koppa Matha started organ and body donation awareness rally. The HOD of Belagavi K.L.E medical college Dr. Mahantesh Ramannavar educated the gathering about the importance of body donation. The HOD Anatomy Department GIMS Dr. Roopa Balihallimath, Dr.Gajanan Channashetty, Professor at Ophthalmology Department GIMS, Dr. Shivanand Hugar attended the event. Mr. Shekhappa B. Kattimani transplant coordinator from Jeevasarthakathe/ SOTTO Karnataka shared created awareness about organ donation. 54 participants registered for organ donation, body donation and eye donation. More than 1000 people were attending the program.
